The Community Outreach Youth
Programs are a division of the Mushin Ryu Martial Arts, Inc.
incorporated in March 2003 as a not-for-profit corporation. Prior to
2003 we were part of an organization headed up by Sensei Donn Schucker as part of his
Neighborhood Outreach Youth Programs.
Our organization works with the
youth of our community as well as adults. Through our programs,
students will gain a better sense of awareness of their surroundings.
Martial arts training also has the inherit properties of learning
self-discipline and how to become a better person.
Martial arts are taught with
the understanding that what we learn is used for self-defense only,
never for bullying or provoking others.
Our organization and it's
predecessor have been in the area since 1995. In that time, we have
provided instruction in the martial arts for hundreds if not thousands of
students. Our programs work in cooperation with area schools,
churches and local government facilities. All potential
students from ages 4 to adult are welcomed. It makes no difference if
you are male or female, what race or religion, you are welcome at our
classes. Parents of the students are especially welcome. Martial arts
are a great activity that the whole family can enjoy.
Our club boasts an abundance of
higher ranking students, black belt and above who serve as assistant
instructors. Most of the senior students have studied more than one
martial art, such as Judo and Jujitsu. Usually, advanced training is
offered to students who achieve the rank of Purple belt. At the black belt level,
it is assumed that the student will enter Instructor training. No
ranks above shodan are offered to those not willing to serve as assistant
or full instructors.
Our organization is one of the original clubs registered with the
Schucker Martial Arts Association (SMAA) Details about the
SMAA can be found by visiting their website

Sensei Goodwin served as the webmaster for this organization and also
served as one of
the five Yudansha Taigu. (There are only five officially recognized Yudansha Taigu in
the United States)
